There’s a fresh look and feel at VisitPEC.ca, The County’s new, official tourism website.
The site soft-launched last week and is a resource of information and vibrant imagery for visitors, local businesses, and tourism ambassadors.
With its own website, the municipality is able to better connect with visitors while streamlining destination marketing efforts and measuring results. Using a similar approach as Buildanewlife.ca, The County’s widely recognized investment and resident attraction blog, VisitPEC.ca uses a lead- generation model to identify opportunities and prospects. VisitPEC.ca will be a go-to resource for information on local attractions, businesses, events, and insider information, making it a vital tool supporting visitors from near and far.
“Through beautiful photos and rich content, the new official tourism website highlights the people and places that make The County one of the hottest destinations in Ontario,” stated Mayor Robert Quaiff. “Beyond providing a wealth of information, VisitPEC.ca offers a snapshot of The County that we hope will inspire people to come and explore this area.”
Highlights of the new site include the ability to reflect seasonality through images and content, helping to promote year-round visitation; blog stories featuring helpful hints and insights from local contributors; news and notices about travel disruptions and closures; and promotion of destinations grouped geographically within The County to encourage visitors to explore from shore to shore.
In the coming months, more features to enhance the visitor experience will be added, including bilingual (French) content and last-minute accommodation availability, for those who have arrived in The County but have not secured accommodation.
Local tourism-based businesses can benefit from free business listings, including an image, description, contact information, web links, social media, and map display. Listings are shown throughout the site within categories that describe the business product and/or service and its unique attributes, such as being family-friendly, offering service in French, being part of the Arts or Taste Trail, and many others. More than 100 tourism-related businesses are already listed, with more to come.
VisitPEC.ca was developed with funding from the Community and Economic Development Commission, as part of The County’s new approach to visitor services, and with the Regional Tourism Office for South Eastern Ontario and The Great Waterway, which supported the development of VisitPEC.ca through their partnership funding program.
“VisitPEC.ca promotes the County as a great place to visit and a great place to live,” stated Bill Roberts, chairperson of the Community and Economic Development Commission. “The site has an important role in informing the nearly one million visitors coming each year, plus the tourism operators and ambassadors who are providing that helpful, personal experience that makes a trip to The County so memorable.”
“We are thrilled to launch The County’s own first official tourism website. The County continues to attract recognition, visitors, and residents to the area with our rural charm and authentic vibe. VisitPEC.ca will be the hub of our destination marketing efforts on digital platforms,” said Neil Carbone, director of community development. “The municipality gratefully acknowledges the privately run website, prince-edward-county.com (also pec.on.ca and visitthecounty.ca), which provided tourism information in lieu of a municipally operated website over the past several years.”
Prince-edward-county.com will continue to be a resource for County information for locals and visitors alike.
VisitPEC.ca is managed by the community development department. Official Prince Edward County tourism-related social media accounts will continue to be found on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
