Product Development Partnership Allocation Program

The Great Waterway (Regional Tourism Organization 9 – RTO 9) is pleased to offer (5) five Region 9 tourism businesses the opportunity to access the Partnership Allocation Program to cover up to 50% of specified expenses (listed below) to attend the Edge of the Wedge program.

The Edge of the Wedge is the premier experiential travel training program in Canada! Set in the natural splendor of Gros Morne National Park, the Edge of the Wedge is an immersive, hands on opportunity that will increase your revenue potential, competitive market position, result in new tourism experiences and long-lasting community partnerships.

There is a shift taking place in how visitors want to experience their destinations. People want to be connected, to understand and experience the local culture and traditions in ways that have a low impact on the people and places we welcome travellers. At the Edge of the Wedge you will shown how to create those experiences and more! http://gmist.ca/course/edge/

The Great Waterway supports developing new tourism products and services which can connect visitors to the region through authentic, engaging experiences.  The partnership will match dollars to cover the costs listed below for tourism business operators wishing to attend the training program. See the application below for full details.

Who is the Program for?

Private sector, profit and not‐for‐profit tourism businesses who directly welcome guests, visitors and those that support the guest experience.  You’ll be aligning with how the provincial and national destination marketing organizations are selling Canada.

What will you take away from the Edge of the Wedge Course?

  • Gain a solid understanding of experiential travel, the opportunities, benefits, risks and investment required to succeed.
  • Immerse yourself in a destination that’s made the ‘shift’ to experiential travel and is a leader.
  • Learn how to think like a traveller by engaging in authentic Atlantic Canadian community experiences that demonstrate the visitor experience, and then get a chance to meet the operators and hear their stories.
  • Discover new practices that enable you to dream, design, and package memorable travel experiences.
  • Learn by doing!

Submit the application (see below) to Brianna Doyon by August 25th at 12:00 pm.
