Road cyclists are invited to enjoy a leisurely ride along some of the best roads in Ontario at the ‘2018 Discover L&A Ride’. This third annual event takes place along the roads of Lennox & Addington County on Saturday, September 22nd.
For only $30 per person, participants will have access to several strategically placed rest stops, entrance into two historic sites, as well as wine and cider tastings from local producers found along the route. At the end of the ride, a glass of locally crafted beer will be provided to all registrants, if desired.
The ride begins at MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company in Bath at 10am where riders will hear music from The Kitchen Gypsies. Bicycle repair services will be available, courtesy of Rick’s Bike Repair. The 58-kilometre looping route takes riders along paved roads that overlook the water’s edge and authentic rural Eastern Ontario landscapes. Rest stops along the way include Pickerel Park, Old Hay Bay Church, Bergeron Estate Winery & Cider Company, Loyalist Trading Company, and the Fairfield-Gutzeit House. Refreshments – using local ingredients wherever possible – will be available at each stop.
The unofficial half-way point of the ride is Bergeron Estate Winery & Cider Company where cyclists can take a break to hear live music from the band Kevin & the Kitchen Sink. A delicious lunch will be available for purchase, and a complementary wine and cider tasting is available. The menu includes a variety of sandwiches as well as Nonna’s pizza slices.
After a fun day of cycling, riders will return to MacKinnon Brothers and be entertained by music from performer Trevor Walsh (2 – 5pm). A glass of MacKinnon beer will be available after a fun day of cycling, and ‘The Soup Chef Food Truck’ will be at the brewery serving a variety of menu items from 1:30 – 5pm.
