Ontario’s Red Tape Challenge invites businesses, industry associations and the public to tell us how we can improve regulations to better support business. The tourism consultation will run from February 1 to March 31, 2018. Feedback can be provided online by visiting ontario.ca/redtapechallenge.
Input received from the consultation will help make it easier for tourism sector businesses to interact with government, innovate, and grow without jeopardizing necessary standards that protect the public interest.
Tourism is the sixth sector of focus for the Red Tape Challenge. Previous rounds focused on the automotive parts manufacturing, food processing, financial services, mining and chemical manufacturing sectors. The final consultation will focus on forestry.
The Red Tape Challenge builds on our government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that the tourism industry in Ontario continues to thrive and grow by reducing barriers to doing business, without compromising public safety. Ontario is also working with government and industry partners to implement the Strategic Framework for Tourism in Ontario, which aims to maximize the growth of Ontario’s tourism sector and position the province as a preferred global tourism destination.
Please help us raise awareness of the challenge by encouraging participation within your organization and from your members. Look for Red Tape Challenge content on our ministry Twitter accounts at @ExploreON and @ONeconomy.
To assist you in spreading the word, we have attached a brief communications e-kit that includes:
- text to include in your communications materials such as newsletters;
- an overview PDF of the challenge and how it works to share with your members;
- an editorial calendar of prepared tweets and posts for the tourism sector; and
- digital images for online engagement.
The Red Tape Challenge is part of Ontario’s Business Growth Initiative and complements our government’s ongoing efforts to reduce regulatory burden on businesses. It is part of Ontario’s plan to create fairness and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change. Together, we will ensure Ontario remains a leader in reducing business barriers and building a climate where business can thrive.
Visit ontario.ca/redtapechallenge by March 31 to submit your feedback. The final report will be available on October 31, 2018.
